Song of the Day - Mexican Institute of Sound: "El Microfono"

I decided to continue shining the spotlight on Mexican music for another post since I have been listening to this track over and over again the past week. Today's ditty comes from Mexican Institute of Sound who, like Cafe Tacuba, hail from Mexico City.

Mexican Institute of Sound is the brainchild of DJ/producer Camilo Lara, who chooses samplers, synthesizers and sequencers as his weapons of choice. All of these are arranged beautifully on "El Microfono" as Lara combines elements of Cha Cha Cha, Funk and Hip-Hop to create a sexy sounding rhythm that is almost guaranteed inclusion on my next party music playlist. If you enjoy this song then the rest of Mexican Institute of Sound's excellent sophomore album Piñata is definitely worth checking out.
