One of the most important decisions to make when planning each day of the Coachella festival is determining how early you need to be inside the venue. Most people don't start showing up until around 3PM, but I like to show up earlier since a) the line to get inside is shorter and b) there's always somebody good playing around 1:00 or 2:00. On Friday, early entrants should make sure to watch Australian dance trio Midnight Juggernauts, who are performing inside the Gobi tent at 2PM.
The first line of their Wikipedia entry quotes Rolling Stone, who called these guys "David Bowie if his Berlin Trilogy was a collaboration with Kraftwerk and Faust." Now, that's a compliment if I ever heard one! While the comparison might be a tad hyperbolic, it is preferable to the terms "Blog House" and "Nu Rave" frequently bandied about by the indie cool kids (not those cool kids). As for me, I like to keep things simple, and would rather use adjectives like dance or, for the more detailed-oriented, dance-pop.

Whatever parlance you prefer, we can surely agree Midnight Jugernauts make catchy music that has a natural home on the dance floor. One listen to their debut LP Dystopia proves that fact in spades, with gems like "Into the Galaxy" (which, I will admit, does have a certain Bowie-esque quality), "Shadows" (Tangerine Dream re-imagined as house music) and "Nine Lives" (their homage to Brotherhood-era New Order) as exhibits one, two and three. But don't take my word for it...
